Cars and sex are inextricably linked.  Manufacturers have used sexy imagery to sell their sexy cars for as long as anyone can remember. For anyone who needs a reminder of this, I call your attention to this Fiat commercial released last year, or better yet, check out this offering from our Deutsche brothers at Mercedes:

Even the language we use to describe automotive attributes have definitive sexual overtones.  Smooth, soft, supple, handsome, desirable and beautifully sculpted body are all common terminology in a cars marketing material.  Perhaps my favourite example of this is when a co-worker described a bright red Corvette that someone traded in.  He described said car as a ‘giant red penis’ driving down the road. Now considering I’d prefer to drive this Black/Black SLS Cabriolet, if I used that same logic, would that then mean I have a big black …? Ahh nevermind.

So what’s the point of this somewhat obvious rant? The fact I can boast that my rant is now backed by science! (kinda).  AutoTrader commissioned a study by Angus-Reid confirming that more than a third of Canadians feel sexier when driving a nice car.  Now this nice car won’t help you get laid more often (according to the study), but at least you’ll feel better about yourself.  Read the full details on the survey here.

While driving to Owen Sound this past long weekend, I found myself  once again defending my stance on DC.  We hypothesized appropriate choices for weddings, funerals and everything inbetween.  While I dominated the [...]]]> I’ve been known to argue there’s an appropriate Destiny’s Child song for every moment in ones life.  While my theory has been mocked by many, I stand behind my declaration.

While driving to Owen Sound this past long weekend, I found myself  once again defending my stance on DC.  We hypothesized appropriate choices for weddings, funerals and everything inbetween.  While I dominated the arguement with undeniable DC references, I was  unable to think of anything from their song book that captured the essence of the roadtrip better than this Chuck Berry classic:

If you’ve got a better suggestion, I’d like to hear it… not withstanding any Tom Cochran references – way over done.

Aside from this extremely topical debate, the  weekend was chocked full of good food, Inglis falls,  refreshing beverages and one bad-ass Rhubarb Strawberry crisp courtesy of joyous health.

The Black Series moniker made its debut in 2008 with the CLK 63 AMG.  The limited-edition, alphanumerically tagged road rockets were given the task of out AMG-ing current AMG models.  To do this, designers integrated race grade components with feather light materials (see: copious amounts of carbon fibre) to create a monster of a machine, capable of out running any willing competitor.

For an encore, the good people at Affalterbach produced the much lauded SL65 AMG Black Series, and with the introduction of the 2012 C-Coupe – the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe.

Given the same treatment as the original CLK, the new C63 very proudly and very capably carries on the Black Series tradition.  With only 30 allotted for Canada, and with all 30 selling out in 24hrs, this little video is probably the closest most of us will ever get to on. Enjoy!
